(Boone County, Ky.) – The Boone County Water District general manager has been fired.
Phil Trzop was terminated by the water district’s board of commissioners on Tuesday, the Kentucky Enquirer reports. The 62-year-old was arrested for Abuse of Public Trust in November. His resignation is retroactive to November 17.
Trzop, who has pleaded not guilty, allegedly sold scrap metal belonging to the water district and kept thousands of dollars of the cash in return.
The water district’s chairman told the newspaper that a search committee is actively seeking a replacement general manager.
Trzop was also elected the Mayor of Walton in the November 6 election, just 10 days before his arrest. He has said he has no plans to resign that post.
