(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Icy pavement may be to blame for a handful of accidents on the Interstate 275 Carroll Cropper Bridge Wednesday morning.
Fog and temperatures in the 20’s caused some ice on the Ohio River bridge as the morning commute began to peak.
The first accident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of the bridge from Indiana into Kentucky when a car hit the bridge wall and stopped sideways in the right lane. The traffic backup caused by the accident created delays up to 40 minutes as emergency crews awaited a tow truck to clear the scene at about 6:50.
About 30 minutes after the first crash occurred, there were two more accidents in the northbound lanes.
It is unclear if any of the accidents involved injuries.
