(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Christmas is in full effect in Rising Sun this week.

Residents and visitors are invited to a couple holiday events. Santa Claus will visit with children Wednesday, December 5 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Rising Sun Senior Community Building, 510 South Mulberry Street.

Santa will arrive by fire truck to talk with kids and to pose for free pictures. Refreshments will be served. Santa’s visit is sponsored by the City of Rising Sun, Rising Sun Municipal Utilities, and the Rising Sun Lions Club.

The Christmas excitement continues on Sunday, December 9 from 12:00-4:00 p.m. when downtown Rising Sun businesses welcome the public to their Holiday Open House. Folks can shop for gifts at the local businesses, enjoy a horse and buggy ride, get more pictures with Santa. Children face painting and hot chocolate and cookies will be served at the Pendleton Art Center. All activities are free.

The Holiday Open House is sponsored by Historic Downtown Main Street, Rising Sun-Ohio County Tourism, and the City of Rising Sun.
