(Rising Sun, Ind.) - A new hotel being built in Rising Sun could help with revenues at Rising Star Casino Resort.
Construction recently began on the new 104-room hotel being built by Rising Sun-Ohio County First and the Rising Sun Regional Foundation.
The groundbreaking for the hotel was first held over a year ago, but a zoning battle and concerns from neighbors delayed the project’s progress.
Rising Star Casino executives say the hotel will aid in protecting the future revenue stream of the city and regional foundation from an increasingly competitive marketplace. Hollywood Casino in Lawrenceburg and Belterra Casino in Switzerland County have invested in improvements to their facilities, and a new casino will open in Cincinnati next Spring.
"With the Rising Star Casino Resort Hotel operating at or near capacity the majority of the time, the addition of a new 104-room hotel in the community will allow the Rising Star team to have access to accommodations for those customers that would like, but were unable, to stay overnight," said Andre Hilliou, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Full House Resorts.
The hotel is scheduled for a fourth quarter of 2013 opening.
