(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - An alleged drug dealer is off the streets and now behind bars at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.

Charles Evans, of Lawrenceburg, was arrested last Wednesday, June 17 after police executed a search warrant at his apartment on Scudder Drive.
Evans, 43, came under investigation by the Dearborn and Ohio Counties Special Crimes Unit after detectives received a tip about the suspect’s alleged dealing in marijuana and other drugs back in May.
According to a court affidavit, detectives found marijuana, scales and a partially smoked joint in the apartment raid as well as $1,130.20 in cash on Evans person.
He faces charges of Dealing Marijuana Within 1,000 Feet of a Public Park (Class C felony), Neglect of a Dependent (Class D felony), Possession of Paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor), Possession of Marijuana Less Than 30 Grams (Class A misdemeanor), and Maintaining a Common Nuisance (Class D felony).
Evans remains held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center as of Wednesday, June 23.
This is not Evans’ first go-round with the justice system. He has several prior arrests including charges of drug possession, theft and probation violation in Tennessee. In August 2007 he was arrested for receiving stolen property in Hamilton, Oh. and in October 2008 he was charged with rape by Middletown, Oh. police.
