Emily Langdon remains in a coma at a Cincinnati hospital following an ATV accident in Dearborn County November 18.
(Dillsboro, Ind.) - A Dillsboro Elementary School student and her uncle each remain hospitalized nearly two weeks after a serious ATV accident.
Eagle 99.3 told you when 11-year-old Emily Langdon and her uncle Mike Langdon crashed two ATVs head-on on Sunday, November 18. They were rushed to area hospitals by aircare following the accident.
Brian Emerson, a friend of the Langdon family, said Thursday that Emily remains in a coma at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with broken bones, a collapsed lung, and lacerations.
“The extent of her brain trauma or damage will not be fully known until she wakes up. I did hear today that they were able to remove her breathing tube today. She is trying to wake up and they are hopeful she will soon,” Emerson said of the sixth grader’s recovery.
Emily’s parents, Todd and Barb Langdon, are taking turns staying with her at the hospital as she recovers. They also go to visit Mike Langdon at University of Cincinnati Hospital.
“Mike is still at UC. He is awake but due to his broken jaw and eye socket fracture, he will face many surgeries once the swelling goes down. They also found a blood clot in his leg,” said Emerson, who added that the Langdon’s are an amazing family.
The family needs donations to help cover medical expenses, especially with the upcoming holidays. You can donate to the Langdon Family Benefit Fund at any Fifth Third Bank branch. People with questions or willing to help in other ways can reach Brian Emerson by e-mail, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Emerson also asks that people keep the Langdons in their prayers.
