(Aurora, Ind.) – An Aurora bank robber is going to prison for a while after pleading guilty to the charges.

Steven D. Clark robbed the Merchants Bank & Trust at the River Creek Village Shopping Center on August 17. He was caught a few days later in Louisville, Kentucky as he was taking a bus West to Reno, Nevada.

Clark reached a negotiated plea agreement with prosecutors in October, pleading guilty to charges of Robbery and a Habitual Offender Enhancement.

The 47-year-old was sentenced 18 years behind bars by Dearborn Circuit Court Judge James Humphrey on November 20. He was given credit for 162 days served in jail since his arrest.

Clark was also ordered to pay court costs and to not have contact with the bank employees he robbed.

Prosecutors sought the Habitual Offender Enhancement charge because of Clark’s two prior felony convictions. He was twice convicted of felony Criminal Confinement in Ripley County in 2003 and 2009.
