(Friendship, Ind.) – Work continues to get State Road 62 near Friendship back into good driving condition.
The highway has been closed since April of 2011 after parts of it were washed out by slips caused by heavy Spring rains.
Crews with HIS Contractors are still working on the slide repairs, said Indiana Department of Transportation Seymour District media relations director Greg Prince. Crews are on the job as weather allows, including weekends, to make State Road 62 passable once again.
Originally INDOT had hoped to reopen SR 62 this month, however, now the highway may not reopen until next Spring, Prince said. In the meantime, people getting to and from Friendship will have to use the posted detours.
HIS Contractors was awarded a $1.6 million contract to repair SR 62 in April.
