(Greendale, Ind.) - A woman was injured after driving her vehicle onto State Road 1 and being struck by another vehicle Wednesday.
Witnesses told Greendale Police that a 199 Ford Windstar van driven by Iona Potzner, 84, of Lawrenceburg had pulled onto the highway from Georgetown Road at about 1:40 p.m. Her vehicle was then struck by a 2004 Cadillac driven by Shirley Shepard, 77, of Guilford.
When officers arrived on scene, they found Shepard's vehicle still in the roadway on SR 1. Potzner was trapped in her vehicle which came to a stop over an embankment and in a yard.
Greendale Fire Department removed Potzner from the vehicle using rescue tools. She was then transported to Dearborn County Hospital by Greendale EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
Potzner was cited for Failure to Yield at a Through Highway.
Sgt. Kevin Turner of Greendale Police is investigating the accident. He was assisted on scene by officers of the Greendale Police Department (Officers Scott Schnebelt, Pam Taylor, and Scott Spinnati), the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, and the Lawrenceburg Fire Department.
