(Osgood, Ind.) - Nobody is certain what is mysteriously causing dozens of birds to fall dead out of the sky in Ripley County.
Last Thursday, a resident in Osgood reported about 75 juvenile starlings dead on the ground.
Ripley County Emergency Management, the Ripley County Health Department, and Indiana Department of Natural Resources officers are investigating. They speculate that the birds may have been poisoned.
Some of the carcasses have been sent to Purdue University for testing.
More birds were reportedly found near Versailles over the weekend.
If you find a number of dead birds, call the Ripley County Health Department at (812) 689-5751.
