(Indianapolis, Ind.) – There is more trouble surrounding the Franklin County Auditor’s Office.
Auditor Erica Hudson had been no-showing for her job for several months with talk among county commissioners about ousting her from office.
The Brookville American-Democrat reports that Hudson has been back on the job recently. On November 13, she hired Chadwick Sexton as a part-time auditor’s office employee.
A day after being hired, Sexton, 20, was arrested on a warrant out of Knox County, Indiana. He was wanted on charges of Theft/Receiving Stolen Property, Operating a Vehicle While Never Being Licensed, and probation violation.
Another twist in the case is that Sexton was at Hudson’s Brookville apartment when he was arrested. Hudson told the newspaper that Sexton was not living there and she was attending church with her daughter at the time of Sexton’s arrest.
According to the newspaper, Hudson said she did not perform a background check on Sexton prior to hiring him. She advised she may do such checks in the future.
A new person will be hired to fill the part-time position previously held by Sexton.
