(Moores Hill, Ind.) - Indiana’s deer firearms hunting season began Saturday, but not without at least one hunter being injured.
A man fell from a tree stand while hunting in Dearborn County. The incident was called in Saturday evening about 5:22 p.m. from a home on Watson Road in Moores Hill.
The victim, Aaron Watson, 41, of Moores Hill, fell approximately 30 feet from a tree when his stand failed, Indiana Conservation Officer Cpl. Chris Powell said. It was unclear if Watson was using a harness at the time of the fall.
Powell said it is believed the tree stand had been in the tree for a couple years and become unstable.
A relative tells Eagle 99.3 that Watson remains in intensive care at an area hospital as of Monday morning.
The accident remains under investigation by the Indiana Conservation Officers and the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department.
