(Carroll County, Ky.) - A lawsuit has been filed over a school bus crash that killed two three-year-olds and injured seven other children.

A Carroll County Head Start bus went off the road, overturned, and struck a tree on Boone Road the afternoon of October 29 as the children were being taken home. Caroline Tuttle and Ryder Deitz were pronounced dead at the scene.

Northern Kentucky attorney Eric Deters is representing the parents of some of the victims. On Tuesday, he filed a lawsuit in Carroll Circuit Court alleging negligence by bus driver Laura Reed and Carroll County Schools.

Reed allegedly "operated the school bus in excess of the speed limit and in a negligent, reckless and unsafe manner," according to the lawsuit. The litigations claims that the school board ignored complaints about Reed's driving before the crash and did not properly train or supervise her.

Also, the lawsuit alleges two of the injured children, Dulce Cruz and Ryleigh Hollinsworth, both 3, suffered serious and permanent injuries, including broken collarbones and leg bones.

The lawsuit seeks compensatory damages and lawyers fees.

Kentucky State Police are still investigating the crash to see if there were any mechanical failures with the bus that contributed.
