(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A 91-year-old man who was reported missing by his family on Friday was found dead in Switzerland County on Saturday.
Richard Brown’s sons reported him missing from his Aurora home to Dearborn County deputies on Friday evening. One of the sons had spoken with Brown earlier that day, telling him he was going fishing.
Brown frequently fished at McAlister Farms in Switzerland County and Cutter ponds in Dillsboro. Deputies checked both areas to no avail Friday evening.
Just before 8:00 a.m. Saturday, Ohio County dispatch received a call requesting assistance at McAlister Farms located on North Branch Road in Switzerland County. Items known to belong to Brown were found there.
At about 10:30, Switzerland County Sheriff Roy Leap reported finding Brown’s vehicle completely submerged in a pond on the McAlister Farms property. Dearborn County Water Rescue workers found Brown’s body inside the submerged vehicle.
The death is not believed to be suspicious, although it does remain under investigation by the Switzerland County Sheriff’s Department.
