image(St. Leon, Ind.) – Approximately 50 pounds of marijuana were seized following a traffic stop on Interstate 74 in Dearborn County Thursday.

At about 2:00 p.m., an Indiana State Police trooper stopped a 2010 Chevrolet Impala for speeding near the St. Leon exit. The trooper became suspicious and requested a police K-9 unit.

Lawrenceburg K-9 Officer Jacob Jump and his dog Newby responded. During a sniff, Newby alerted on the vehicle and a search was conducted.

The search turned up about 50 pounds of marijuana in the car. Troopers estimated the load being transported from Indianapolis to Cincinnati was valued at $50,000.

The driver, Ashley L. Love, of Indianapolis, was arrested on a charge of Dealing in Marijuana Over 10 Pounds (Class C felony). She remains held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center Friday awaiting her initial appearance in court.
