(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A former Dearborn County corrections officer accused of having sex with a work release inmate is professing her innocence.
Former Southeast Regional Community Corrections employee Michelle Jackson was arrested last February on charges of Sexual Misconduct by a Service Provider. Investigators allege Jackson, a married mother of two, had relations on three occasions with Eric Coleman, serving time for repeat drunk driving charges.
Two of the alleged encounters occurred when Coleman was in jail on work release, he told investigators. A third meeting allegedly happened in Jackson’s van in the driveway of Coleman’s parent’s home on Georgetown Road when he was on home incarceration, being supervised by Jackson.
Jackson met with reporters yesterday, accompanied by her defense attorney Eric Deters to deny the allegations.
“To learn that someone who was a repeat offender, that they’d believe somebody’s statement like that over mine,” Jackson told WLWT-TV.
Deters said he has evidence that proves Jackson is innocent, including phone records and corrections department documents.
Jackson also pointed out that Coleman has not been consistent with his story. She said he wanted a relationship with her, but she denied his advances.
The case is set to go to trial March 4, but Deters is seeking to have the charges against Jackson dismissed, WLWT-TV reported.
