(Carroll County, Ky.) – Carroll County Schools will be closed Friday as the community mourns the loss of two three-year-old students.
Two of the nine children on board a Carroll County Head Start school bus died when that bus crashed on Boone Road on Monday afternoon. The young ones killed were Caroline Tuttle and Ryder Deitz.
Tuttle's funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday. Ryder Deitz's visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, and the funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
A three-year-old boy involved in the bus accident was upgraded Thursday to serious condition at University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
A 4-year-old girl remains in the intensive-care unit at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville. A 3-year-old boy was moved from the intensive-care unit to good condition.
Two of the young victims were released from the hospital Tuesday and Wednesday.
An adult bus helper, Tina Gividen, 52, of Carrollton, remains at University Hospital in Louisville in unknown condition. The driver of the bus, Laura Reed, 59, of Carrollton, was not injured.
Kentucky State Police have ruled out the possibility that a second vehicle may have played a part in the crash. Seatbelts were being worn by all the people aboard the bus.
