Richard Mourdock |
(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock is being offered $1 million for proof to substantiate his rape comments made during last week's debate.
During an October 23 debate with Democrat opponent Joe Donnelly, Mourdock made a comment that caused a firestorm of controversy.
“Life is a gift from God and I think even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen,” Mourdock stated.
Adult entertainment publisher Larry Flynt took out a full page ad in Thursday's Indianapolis Star that gave Mourdock until 8:00 p.m. November 5 to verify his claim with letters, email, text messages or videos from God.
"I assume that you would not have made this statement unless you had been authorized by God. No one who believes in God would ever use the Almighty's name in vain. That would be blasphemy," Flynt said in the ad.
Mourdock will campaign in Aurora Friday evening. The Indiana State Treasurer meets with supporters at the Dearborn County GOP Victory Center, 539 Green Boulevard/U.S. 50, from 5:00 to 7:00.
The event is being hosted by local Republicans State Senators Johnny Nugent and Jean Leising, Art and Ruth Little, and Aurora Mayor Donnie Hastings.
