Aurora Police have released the names of the victims in a deadly head-on crash on State Road 56 Wednesday afternoon.
Two vehicles collided at about 12:30 near Lesko Park. One of the drivers, Billy Wainscott, 78, of Ohio County, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver, Shawn Horstman, 39, of Rising Sun, had to be extricated from his vehicle before being rushed to Dearborn County Hospital. He was later transferred by helicopter to University Hospital in Cincinnati. Horstman’s current condition is not known.
The crash is remains under investigation by Aurora Police.
Aurora Police were assisted at the scene by Aurora and Lawrenceburg Fire Departments, Aurora Emergency Rescue Unit, the Dearborn County Coroner’s Office, and the Indiana State Police.
State Road 56 was closed to traffic for about four hours during the rescue and investigation.

Aurora Police advise that State Road 56 has reopened at the scene of an earlier fatal accident near Lesko Park.
The names of the victims killed or injured have not been released.
The accident remains under investigation by Aurora Police.

Aurora Police confirm that one person died in the crash on State Road 56 near Lesko Park.
At least two vehicles collided at about 12:40 p.m. At least one other person had to be extricated from a vehicle before being transported to Dearborn County Hospital.
State Road 56 is shut down at the accident scene and there is no estimated time for a reopening, Aurora Police said. Traffic needing to travel to and from Aurora to Rising Sun, is being diverted onto East Laughery Creek Road to Cole Lane to U.S. 50.

(Aurora, Ind.) – Emergency crews are responding to a serious vehicle accident on State Road 56 in Aurora.
The multi-vehicle crash occurred at about 12:40 p.m. near Lesko Park in Aurora. Injuries are believed to be involved.
At least one crash victim was said to be trapped inside a vehicle.
Aurora Police advise that State Road 56 is closed in both directions. An estimated time for reopening has not been determined.
