(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – With less than a week to go before Election Day, early voting is proving to be a hit once again with voters in Dearborn County.
Clerk of Courts Phil Weaver says that approximately 2,000 absentee ballots have been cast at the Dearborn County Courthouse in Lawrenceburg as of Monday. Weaver expects to see another 1,000 or so absentee ballots submitted before November 6.
“Absentee Voting has been working fine with our locating back in the Courthouse,” Weaver said. “My staff has been better able to keep up on the paper work and available right there for any questions by voters.”
Dearborn County’s 2012 absentee voting may come close to matching that of the last presidential election in 2008 when 3,414 absentee ballots were cast in person and by mail. The figure would be close to 10 percent of the 37,000 registered voters in the county voting early.
Early voting continues weekdays at the Dearborn County Courthouse from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The final day for absentee in-person voting is Monday, November 5 from 9:00 to noon.
There will be extra early voting hours on Saturday, November 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
