(Ripley County, Ind.) – Motorists who cross the CSX railroad through Dearborn and Ripley counties will soon need to be even more cautious at the crossings.
The Ripley County Emergency Management Department says that CSX will increase the speed limit from 25 to 40 MPH on the railroad between Aurora and Butlerville starting November 14. The span stretches 37 miles.
Drivers are warned to be careful at railroad crossings, especially those that do not have automatic gates or flashing lights, as trains will approach those crossings faster.
With the train speed increase, CSX is offering specialized training for police, fire, and school bus drivers. The training can be booked through Bryan Glover, (502) 815-1835.
