(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - September real estate statistics are out for Indiana, showing home sales slowed a little bit last month in southeast Indiana.
Statewide, Indiana saw a 7.5 percent increase in sales of detached single family homes, condos and townhomes last month, according to the Indiana Real Estate Markets Report from the Indiana Association of Realtors. The median price of the selling homes rose 4.3 percent to $120,000.
The latest report illustrates continued improvement in Indiana’s housing market.
“Now that the traditional buying and selling season is past, we can clearly see the strength within the residential real estate market statewide,” said Karl Berron, Chief Executive Officer of the Indiana Association of Realtors, adding that sustained recovery will not happen without real employment and wage growth.
In Dearborn County, 31 homes were sold in September, seven fewer than the same month last year. For those 31 homes, the county’s median selling price was down 1.6 percent to $135,000.
Ripley County is trending in a positive direction with 20 home sales in September, up four from last year. However, the price there also fell to $136,500, down 1.4 percent.
Overall, year-to-date home sales in southeast Indiana – including Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland counties – are still ahead of 2011. Through September, 540 homes have been sold, up 11.3 percent from 485 sold in the first nine months of 2011.
