(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Lawrenceburg High School’s marching band is going out on top.
The band ended their 2012 season with a first place finish at the Letcher County Invitational in Whitesburg, Kentucky on Saturday.
“The band has not fielded a competitive group in three years and this season marked their successful return to competitive marching,” said LHS Band Director Darren Webb.
Webb said the band took first place in class B1 and won best overall visual, second place overall in music and second place in overall effect, topping bands from Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee.
Drum Major Christy Duechle won top drum major at the entire event and was the only conductor with a superior rating.
This isn’t the first honor the band has received this year. The LHS band also took home a Gold Award at the Indiana State School Music Association band festival on October 6.
Webb is assisted by Paul Hendrixson, Kasey Carpenter, and John Thacker.
