Lawrenceburg Police have released updated information on a serious crash that sent three people to area hospitals Friday morning.
The three vehicle accident occurred at about 6:56 a.m. on U.S. 50 between Hollywood Boulevard and Arch Street in Lawrenceburg. Officers say a blue Toyota Prius driven by a 45-year-old man from Hebron, Kentucky travelled left-of-center and struck a red Pontiac Grand Am head-on.
After being extricated from the Prius, the driver was taken to University Hospital in Cincinnati by aircare for treatment of chest pain and possible internal injuries.
Firefighters had to extricate two people from the Grand Am. The driver, a 23-year-old woman from Moores Hill, was taken by ambulance to Dearborn County Hospital then later transferred by aircare to University Hospital for treatment of head, neck, and leg injuries.
A 26-year-old female from Rising Sun was a passenger in the Grand Am. She was treated at Dearborn County Hospital for chest pain.
After the Grand Am was struck by the Prius, it was then hit by a third vehicle, a blue Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 46-year-old woman from Addyston, Ohio. The woman was not treated for injuries at the scene.
Lawrenceburg Police say the crash remains under investigation. Officers were assisted by the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Greendale Police Department, Lawrenceburg Fire Department, Lawrenceburg EMS, Greendale Fire Department, and Greendale EMS.

Dispatchers report that U.S. 50 in Lawrenceburg has reopened following an earlier crash at the intersection with Hollywood Boulevard.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash. One person was transported to the hospital by aircare. It is unclear if there were any other injuries.
Traffic is moving on U.S. 50, although there may be residual delays leftover. Motorists also report a long backup on Ridge Avenue through Greendale, which was being used as a detour.
The accident is being investigated by Lawrenceburg Police.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Traffic on U.S. 50 in Lawrenceburg is being re-routed following a serious accident Friday morning.
Three vehicles were involved in a crash on the highway near Hollywood Boulevard just before 7:00. Serious injuries are believed to be involved.
Aircare has been called to the scene.
Both eastbound and westbound traffic on U.S. 50 was stopped. Dispatchers advised that traffic is being re-routed around the closure using Ridge Avenue through Greendale.
There is no indication on when U.S. 50 may reopen.
