(Versailles, Ind.) - A Ripley County Sheriff’s reserve deputy loses his job after he ended up on the other side of the law.

The Versailles Republican newspaper reports that Steven F. Williams, 36, of Friendship, was arrested October 5 on a charge of Invasion of Privacy. Williams has since bonded out of jail on $550.

Ripley County Sheriff Tom Grills said Williams has been dismissed from the department. He had worked there for five years.

Williams allegedly violated a protective order against a person by sending that person several text messages. The victim had gone to the Batesville Police Department to report the violation.

When questioned by Batesville Police, Williams admitted to the allegations.
