(Boone County, Ky.) - One race for a seat on the Boone County Board of Education is down to just one candidate after the other drops out of the race.
Jesse Brewer was running for school board in District 3 against Steve Templeton.
The Kentucky Enquirer reports that Brewer resigned from the race this week because of personal and business reasons.
Brewer, who lives in Florence, was arrested in Hamilton County on October 4 for allegedly failing to comply with a fire code, a misdemeanor. He works in property management and allegedly failed to install smoke detectors in a building he owns, the newspaper reported.
Brewer pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Brewer’s name will still appear on some ballots in Boone County, but votes for him will not count. Voters will be notified before casting their ballots.
