(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Lawrenceburg had its big fall festival in September. Last week it was Aurora with the Farmers Fair.
But this weekend, Rising Sun has its turn at some fall fun.
The 25th Annual Rising Sun Navy Bean Festival begins Friday and runs through Saturday. There is live music, games, rides, the City of Rising Sun’s silent auction, and – of course – Navy Bean soup and homemade cornbread.
Friday’s festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. and includes the Navy Bean Queen pageant. Radio Disney will be broadcasting live from the kids zone from 6:00 to 8:00.
Saturday events begin at 8:30 a.m. with the Navy Bean 5K Run/Walk. The course will weave through the streets of downtown Rising Sun. People interested in participating can contact NavyBean5K@yahoo.com or (812) 577-7790.
The Navy Bean Parade begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Parade floats can be entered to win cash prizes up to $250.
The music lineup is highlighted by the Saturday night headliner, former Grand Funk Railroad frontman Mark Farner.
