(Madison, Ind. ) - The Southern Indiana man charged with beating his six-week-old son is set to go on trial Tuesday. 

Thirty-year-old Christopher Coy of Madison is facing two felony charges of Neglect of a Dependent after his son, Christopher, died in June.

The coroner's office said the boy died from blunt force trauma to his head.

Coy’s family has supported him and said the boy’s death was a tragic accident, but the prosecution said medical evidence proves it was abuse.

Coy faces up to 50 years in prison if convicted.
