(Burlington, Ky.) – A major upgrade may be coming to the busy intersection of Kentucky 18 and Kentucky 237 in Boone County.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is planning an overpass and interchange at Kentucky 18 and Kentucky 237 in Burlington. KTC officials informed the Boone County Planning Commission of the project last week, the Kentucky Enquirer reported.
Currently, the intersection frequently backs up with traffic as motorists wait through lengthy red lights.
A bridge would be built to carry KY 237 over KY 18 with ramps allowing motorists to get onto the highways heading either direction. The traffic lights would be reduced to only stop traffic for drivers making left turns.
The estimated $15.5 million project could be complete in 2015. The first bids will go out October 19.
