(Aurora, Ind.) – An employee is accused of stealing more than $25,000 from a Dearborn County business over the course of two years.
On Wednesday, Indiana State Police detectives arrested Tammera K. Jones, 44 of Dillsboro on two counts of Theft. The charges came after an investigation into missing funds from a Kennett Truck Stop in Greendale and Kennett River City Marathon in Aurora.
“(Jones) was a trusted employee of Kennett Truck Stop and Kennett River City Marathon for many years,” said Indiana State Police Sgt. Noel Houze. “In October 2010, she was promoted to manager and tasked with the responsibility of depositing money from the businesses into the bank as well as filling the Automatic Teller Machines at both locations.”
But, not all the money was going into the bank or ATM. Some of the cash was allegedly going into Jones’ pockets. Investigators say that between October 2010 and March 2012, Jones allegedly embezzled over $25,000 from Kennett’s.
Jones is currently held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center awaiting her initial appearance in court.
