Press release from United Way of Greater Cincinnati
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - "The leadership in Dearborn and Ohio counties came together, stepping in to fill the shoes left when Joe Hasson, our 2012 campaign chair, took a new job with his company in another part of the country," says Karen Snyder, director, United Way of Greater Cincinnati - Dearborn and Ohio counties (DOC).
"Joe was dedicated to his role in the campaign," says Snyder. "But we are so lucky to have committed volunteers in the region who have stepped up."
That group includes members of the 2012 DOC Campaign Cabinet, all former chairs: Liz Morris, Dearborn County Council, 2011 chair; Bill Ritzman, United Community Bank, 2010 chair; Mike Rozow, Dearborn County Chamber, 2009 chair; and Jim Scott, WLW Radio, who chaired the first DOC campaign in 2008. Also included are 2012 United Way of Greater Cincinnati Campaign Cabinet member Keith Mooneyhan, GE Aviation, DOC GE Representative, and E. G. McLaughlin, United Community Bank, a member of the DOC Action Council.
The campaign results will help achieve the Bold Goals for Our Region in the areas of education, income and health (see www.uwgc.org/boldgoals). Examples of how these Bold Goals are being achieved for children, youth and adults in Dearborn and Ohio counties include:
Children are prepared for kindergarten thanks to 4C for Children and Cincinnati Early Learning Centers;
Local youth take part in programs to achieve success through Girl Scouts of Western Ohio and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati;
People Working Cooperatively helps keep area older adults in their own homes through its home repair program;
Hearing Speech & Deaf Center of Greater Cincinnati helps provide independence for adults through hearing and deaf programs.
The campaign, a fundraising partnership of United Way and the American Red Cross, Cincinnati Area Chapter, ends October 26. You can give now at www.uwgc.org/donate.
