David Dooley Boone County Sheriff's Office |
(Burlington, Ky.) - A Boone County grand jury has indicted a janitor for the workplace murder of a woman in Florence.
Michelle Mockbee, 42, was found murdered at Thermo Fischer Scientific on Empire Drive last May 29. Last week, Boone County Sheriff’s investigators arrested Burlington resident David Dooley for Mockbee’s slaying.
Detectives said Dooley was working at the business as a janitor at the time.
On Tuesday, the grand jury indicted Dooley, 38, on the original charges of Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence, as well as a new charge of Kidnapping. The combination of the murder and kidnapping charges make Dooley eligible for the death penalty, if he’s convicted.
The decision on whether to pursue the death penalty will be made by Boone County Commonwealth Attorney Linda Tally Smith.
Investigators have yet to state a possible motive for Mockbee’s murder.
Dooley remains held in the Boone County Jail on $500,000 bond.
