(Switzerland County, Ind.) - A person in charge of public money in Switzerland County has been arrested.

East Enterprise Regional Sewer Board bookkeeper Crystal Elam Hollen is charged with 36 counts of Theft, a Class D felony and 36 counts of Forgery, a Class C Felony.

According to Indiana State Police investigators from the Versailles Post, earlier this year the Indiana State Board of Accounts was alerted to various discrepancies in the sewer board account.

A state audit led to a criminal investigation where it was discovered that Hollen allegedly wrote a total of 36 checks amounting to $27,000 between January 2009 and July 2009.

Investigators say Hollen, a former member of the East Enterprise Sewer Board, used the money for personal debt.

Hollen, 39, was arrested Monday by an Indiana State Police detective. She is being held in the Switzerland County Jail.
