(Aurora, Ind.) - Aurora Police are hoping the public can help them track down a purse thief.
On Friday, a 71-year-old Aurora resident forgot her purse in a shopping cart in the parking lot of the Aurora Wal-Mart. The forgetful resident drove off. She told police she returned to Wal-Mart a short time later, but found the purse was no longer there.
Aurora Police checked out surveillance video of the store’s parking lot for clues on where the purse may have gone. The video showed that as the victim drove out of the parking lot, a red passenger car pulled into the same parking spot.
The female driver of that car, possibly a four door 2010 through 2012 Chevrolet Cobalt, could be seen exiting the vehicle, taking the purse from the cart, then putting the purse in the trunk of her car.
The suspect appeared to be a black woman in her mid- to late-40s, medium to heavy build, with shoulder length hair.
Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to call the Aurora Police Department at (812) 926-1101.
