(Holton, Ind.) - A woman died following a crash on U.S. 50 in Ripley County Sunday afternoon.
Sheriff’s deputies say the accident happened just before 3:00 p.m. on U.S. 50 west of the town of Holton when a westbound blue 2005 Honda Accord driven by Alma Herbert, 72, of Bedford, Indiana, went left of center for unknown reasons. Her vehicle struck an eastbound pickup truck driven by Jeffrey A. Jones, 54, of Holton.
After being extricated, Herbert was rushed to St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North Vernon where she died.
Jones was aircared to University of Cincinnati Hospital where his condition Monday morning was not released.
Both drivers were the only occupants in their vehicles.
The crash is still under investigation by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office.
Indiana State Police, Holton Police, Versailles Fire Department, Holton Fire Department, Rescue 69 and Ripley County Medic all assisted at the scene.
