Roger Grammer was arrested late Thursday night in Dearborn County for domestic violence. Details of the incident surrounding his arrest have not yet surfaced.
Grammer, 30, resigned his position as a police officer. The resignation was accepted at an emergency meeting of the Aurora Board of Works at 1:00 Friday afternoon.
An initial court appearance has been scheduled for Monday morning. More charges could be filed around that time.
Grammer is the fifth member of the Aurora Police Department to face legal trouble in the past two years. Former chief Dana Cotton was indicted earlier this year for theft. Dennis Lewis, a former assistant chief, was arrested in April for allegedly soliciting sex to undercover officers posing as teenage girls online.
Phone calls to Aurora Mayor Donnie Hastings, Jr. seeking comment have not been returned.
