(Aurora, Ind.) – When Aurora Police released a surveillance photo of a man robbing a bank on August 17 to the media, it didn’t take long for the tips to come pouring in from citizens.

Steven D. Clark was picked up by police in Louisville, Kentucky. He had been on a bus bound for Reno, Nevada when it stopped in the Louisville and he was arrested on a charge of Possession of Cocaine.

Clark, 47, allegedly robbed the Merchants Bank at the River Creek Village Shopping Center on U.S. 50/Green Boulevard last Friday. He initially evaded police as they responded to the scene, but his image – that of a bearded man with a big belly – was caught on surveillance video.

Clark was staying at a homeless shelter in Cincinnati, Ohio. Investigators say he took a taxi to the bank, then took the same taxi back to Cincinnati after the robbery.

As of Wednesday, Clark remains held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. Aurora Police have filed a charge of Robbery (Class C felony) in Dearborn Circuit Court.

“The Aurora Police Department and the other law enforcement officers conducted an excellent investigation that solved this violent crime thoroughly and quickly.  The citizens of Aurora should be very proud of their work,” said Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard.

The Aurora Police Department was assisted by Dearborn County Sheriff’s Department, Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit, Covington Kentucky Police Department, and Louisville Kentucky Metro Police Department.
