Justice Brent E. Dickson in.gov |
(Indianapolis, Ind.) – The newest Chief Justice of the Indiana Supreme Court was sworn in Monday.
Brent E. Dickson was appointed chief justice by the Indiana Judicial Nomination Commission in May, following the March retirement of Randall Shepard.
Dickson was given the oath of office by Governor Mitch Daniels at the statehouse. The formal swearing in ceremony was held after Dickson was given the actual oath of office by Justice Robert D. Rucker when he was first appointed.
Shepard had held the position since 1987, a year after Dickson joined the court. Dickson, a Gary native, was first appointed to the court by Republican Governor Robert Orr.
