(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A Lawrenceburg man is accused of forcing himself upon a teenage girl.
Carl Ascherman, 53, allegedly molested the 13-year-old who was a friend of his daughter. The teen was staying at Ascherman’s Vine Street apartment on Saturday, July 14 for a sleepover.
Ascherman is also accused of pressuring his daughter and the victim to smoke marijuana with him.
“(The daughter) stated that her father asked her to smoke marijuana which she did, explaining that she took one puff but did not inhale. (The daughter) explained she did this so her dad would quit asking her,” Lawrenceburg Police detectives wrote in a probable cause affidavit.
Ascherman was arrested Tuesday on charges of two counts of Attempted Child Molesting (Class B felony), two counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (Class A misdemeanor), and single counts of Child Molesting (Class C felony), Possession of Marijuana (Class A misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor).
He remains held at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on $75,000 surety and $50,000 cash bond. His next court appearance, a pretrial conference, is scheduled for September 4.
