(Greensburg, Ind.) - A Greensburg mother has pleaded guilty to Murder for beating her son to death because he hid her prescription pills.

Tasha Parsons, 30, will be sentenced to at least 40 years but no more than 60 years in prison under a plea agreement in which prosecutors agreed to drop a charge of Neglect of a Dependent. She unexpectedly pleaded guilty during a court hearing Tuesday, The Greensburg Daily News reports.

Formal sentencing will come at a July 20 hearing in Decatur Superior Court.

In a video played in court, Parsons admitted to kicking her 12-year-old son Devin in their home 14 or 15 times, punching him in the head, and hitting him with metal tray in June 2011. She was upset that he hid the painkillers she had obtained illegally.

An autopsy report stated Devin had died of "multiple blunt force traumatic injuries from head to toe."

Parsons’ live-in boyfriend, Waldo Lynn Jones, Jr., was allegedly present during the beating. He is still scheduled to go to trial for Murder on October 19.
