Animal parts spilled on U.S. 50. Ripley County EMA

(Ripley County, Ind.) - There was a really gross reason that U.S. 50 was closed in Ripley County on Friday evening.

A truck carrying dead animal carcasses was losing its load on the highway for about three miles between Versailles and Dillsboro, WLWT-TV reports.

The carcasses were removed from the road and the EPA was notified. U.S. 50 reopened late Friday night.

Ripley County Emergency Management reported the load was “rendered animal parts.”

Motorists reported a horrible smell there through the weekend.
