(AURORA, IN) On Saturday, June 2nd, 2012 at 3:45pm Aurora Police Officer William Halbig was on a routine patrol of a City building on Manchester Landing that is frequented by a homeless individual. Officer Halbig found living quarters in the basement of the utility building. Clothes, a television, food, refridgerator, dishes, and an extension cord leading from the main utility building, and a large amount of child pornography were found.

Officer Halbig requested backup assistance from Sgt. Michael Prudenti and Crime Scene Investigator Shane Slack. They uncovered over 300 pictures of underage children and other sexually explicit items.

Police say 58-year-old Johnnie R. Cook returned to the building, was questioned, and eventually arrested. Cook did not have permission to be on the City's property.

It was determined through the investigation that Cook downloaded the pictures from the Lawrenceburg Public Library. The Lawrenceburg Police Department will now assist in this investigation.

Cook was charged with 30 counts of Possession of child pornography and one count of theft, both class D felonies. Cook was transported to Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center where he is being incarcerated.
