(Florence, Ky.) - The investigation into the murder of a female employee inside a northern Kentucky business continues today.

Boone County sheriff's deputies say Michelle Mockbee, 42, was found dead Tuesday inside the offices at Thermo Fisher Scientific on Empire Drive in Florence.

Family members told detectives that Mockbee left home for work about 6:00 a.m. Less than 90 minutes later, other employees arriving for work found her and called police at 7:20.

Investigators won't say yet what happened to the Fort Mitchell mother of two, other than she was apparently assaulted.

There was no weapon found at the scene. It’s unclear if Mockbee was targeted or if she was the victim of a random crime.

More than a dozen investigators stayed on the scene throughout the day Tuesday processing the crime scene. They said company employees, both locally and corporate, have cooperated fully with the investigation.

Mockbee worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific for 16 years.
