(Florence, Ky.) - The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide at a Florence business.
Officers were called this morning to Thermo Fisher Scientific on Empire Drive. A female employee’s body was found inside the business office by workers as they arrived at about 7:20 a.m. Tuesday.
According to WLWT-TV, police would only call the incident a serious crime. Employees are being kept out of the building as officers said they will continue to investigate throughout the day.
Police said nobody has been charged with a crime in connection with the woman’s death.
Investigators are withholding the victim’s name pending notification of her family.
Thermo Fisher Scientific released a statement about the employee’s death:
Earlier this morning, an alleged homicide occurred at the Florence, Kentucky, distribution facility of Thermo Fisher Scientific. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of the victim. Our focus now is on cooperating with the law enforcement investigation, supporting our employees and assuring the safety of our facility.
At this time, the Boone County Sheriff's Department is leading an investigation into this issue and we have no further comment.
