(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Supplies and equipment are being put in place as work is about to begin on the construction of the planned Lawrenceburg Event Center.
The $49 million, 220,000 square foot building will include hotel rooms, event space, and restaurants overlooking the Ohio River. City officials are hoping the center will lead a revitalization of the downtown district.
In a letter to property owners within 300 feet of the site and their tenants, Tim Jensen with project manager Veridus Group an informational open house meeting will take place Tuesday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m. at Lawrenceburg City Hall. Topics to be discussed include traffic, parking, and other construction concerns.
The meeting is open to the public.
“The City is excited to get this project moving as we believe it will greatly benefit Lawrenceburg and the downtown area when finished,” Jensen stated in the letter. “There will be many challenges throughout construction and we will work with any affected parties as necessary. We appreciate your patience and cooperation for the sake of progress in Lawrenceburg.”
Construction will begin in early June. The event center is expected to be complete in Fall 2013. Once it is finished, the center will be owned and operated by Hollywood Casino parent company Penn National Gaming.
