Mike Pence

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Congressman Mike Pence will announce in the next week who his running mate will be in the upcoming gubernatorial election, but he's doing it differently. 

In a video on Facebook, Pence says he'll inform supporters through email and social media rather than going through traditional media. 

“We’ll be announcing out choice for your next lieutenant governor and I want you to be among the very first to know,” Pence said in the video.

It's a similar move to how President Obama unveiled then-Senator Joe Biden as his running mate for the 2008 presidential election. 

A link on Pence's Facebook page takes people to a website to register their email address to be added to the campaign's mailing list. 

The running mate announcement is expected within the next week.
