Lawrenceburg firefighters train
at the Ivy Tech Southeast Fire
Training Tower facility at the
college’s Lakefront Campus.
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Ivy Tech Community College Southeast will hold a public open house of its fire training facility Saturday, October 8. The approximately $1.5 million tower is located at Ivy Tech Community College Southeast’s 500 Industrial Drive campus. The event is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The open house will include live fire demonstrations, car prop demonstrations, and tours of the fire tower training facilities. In addition the Ivy Tech Community School Southeast School of Nursing will offer health screening and the American Red Cross has scheduled a bloodmobile visit during the four-hour time period. Refreshments will be served.
Concerning the open house, Ivy Tech Southeast Chancellor Jim Helms says construction of the fire tower and the offering of much-needed training has been a cooperative venture between the College and the City of Lawrenceburg. “Thanks to the City of Lawrenceburg, the fire tower complex makes it possible for Ivy Tech to provide all-important, real-life fire training. With invaluable assistance from the community, the college and the State of Indiana, Ivy Tech has become an important educational and economic force in southeastern Indiana.”
