New census data shows Indiana residents’ median household income fell for the third straight year to $44,613 dollars in 2010. The lower income has taken Indiana from the 22nd highest income nationwide in 1999 to 36th last year.
Kentucky fell three spots from 1999 to 48th at $40,062 in 2010. Ohio fell to 35th with an average income of just over $45,090.
The national median household income fell to $50,046 last year, down 2.2 percent from 2009.
