(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A minor traffic violation led to a police officer being kicked by a wanted person Monday evening.
Indiana State Police trooper Kyle Stovall made the traffic stop on U.S. 50 at the Speedway gas station in Lawrenceburg about 10:30 p.m. During the stop, the trooper discovered that the driver, David Chalk, of Aurora, was wanted on a warrant for a probation violation.
Chalk, 30, refused to exit his vehicle when asked by the trooper. A struggle ensued, during which a Lawrenceburg Police officer assisting on scene, Troy Cochran, was kicked in the chest.
Cochran deployed his taser on Chalk, who continued to resist.
Chalk was eventually taken into custody. He is now held at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center for the outstanding warrant, as well as new charges of Resting Law Enforcement and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.
