(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Ten years later and the events of September 11, 2001 continue to have a ripple effect in the tri-state.
Many local events will be held in coming days to commemorate the landmark anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C.

West Harrison, IN : Sunman-Dearborn Intermediate School will host a “Reflections of 9/11” program at 1:00 p.m. Students will be involved as well as guest speakers from local fire , EMS, and police departments. Open to the public.
Aurora, IN : The Aurora Public Library will host their annual "Rally for America," a community memorial service for 9/11. Begins at 11:00 a.m. on the lawn in front of the library, 414 Second Street. Come honor those among us who sacrifice thier safety and freedom for that of others.
Burlington, KY : A patriotic concert will honor our first responders and men and women in the armed services. Located at Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 2776 Burlington Pike, Burlington, KY 41004 beginning at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited. The Florence Community Chorus will combine with The Choral Club of Northern Kentucky to bring us an awesome night of musical entertainment. There will be a dessert and beverage fellowship immediately following the concert.
Brookville, IN : The public is invited to join Main Street Inc. for a memorial ceremony beginning at 8:45 a.m. on the Franklin County Courthouse lawn on Main Street.
Brookville, IN : Various churches in Franklin County are joining together for a ecumenical prayer service for 9/11. Takes place at 1:00 p.m. at Brookville United Methodist Church, 150 E. 8th Street.
Burlington, KY : The Burlington First Church of Christ, 6080 Camp Ernst Road, will hold a 9/11 memorial service at 3:00 p.m.
Harrison, OH : Harrison area churches have organized a joint September 11 memorial service, “Do You Remember?” The event will honor active military members, veterans, and public servants. It includes a video, speakers, a public safety demonstration, 21 gun salute, color guard, and marching band. Ceremony begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Old Kroger Plaza on Harrison Avenue. Please bring canned good to donate. It is recommended to bring your own lawn chair. No admission charge.
Milan, IN : The Milan American Legion, Lions Club, and VFW will dedicate a monument to Lt. Col. Canfield "Buddy" Boone, a Milan native and victim of the 9/11 attack at the Pentagon. Takes place at Darren Baker Memorial Park.
Osgood, IN : The Osgood Fire Department presents Freedom Pull 2011 at the Ripley County Fairgrounds in Osgood. This truck and tractor pull will include a special ceremony for the ten year anniversary of September 11, “Honoring the Heroes and Celebrating Our Freedom,” at 12:30 p.m. Tractor pull begins at 1:00 p.m. More information is available online, osgoodfd.tripod.com.
Osgood, IN : A special day honoring the heroes of 9-11 and celebrating our freedom. Osgood Fire Department Pork Chop and Fried Chicken Dinner starting at 11:00 a.m. Kids activities, special 9-11 anniversary ceremony at noon. Police, fire and EMS vehicle show, truck and tractor pull, live music, fireworks at dark.
Patriot, IN : The Town of Patriot will have a 9/11 memorial at 8:00 p.m. Memorial will include a steel beam which is part of the World Trade Center on display and set in a permanent memorial.
Sunman, IN : American Legion Post 337 will have a 9/11 remembrance service at 1:00 p.m. Spaghetti dinner from noon to 4:00. Free will donations accepted.
Lawrenceburg, IN : Ridgewood Health Campus will host a flag dedication and remembrance of 9/11 at 1:00 p.m. Local fire departments, EMTs, and police will be present and are providing a flag to raise on our new flag pole.
